CyberSquatting

“CyberSquatting” / Trade Name Hijacking.  A large international consumer goods manufacturer with a well-known national brand discovered that a competitor had inserted their company name and product descriptions into the meta-tag information on their website. This was causing consumers who were shopping on-line for our client’s products to be unknowingly diverted to the competitor’s website where counterfeit products were sold. This was a violation of our client’s intellectual property rights. One of our experts was retained to perform an investigation into the behavior of the competitor’s internet commerce section of their web-site, to forensically image the fraudulent site, and to craft a written expert report with court exhibits that demonstrated how the cyber fraud was conducted.
