Summary

Slack has over 12 million daily active users and is a communication tool for 156,000 organizations. Companies like IBM, Amazon, PayPal, and Airbnb, plus 65 of the Fortune 100, use Slack. The average user is active for 90 minutes per day on weekdays, and 1.5 billion messages are sent on the service every week.

Slack messages can include a massive amount of information, from text and images to links and attached files. It can contain the same amount of data as an email, but accessing, filtering, and analyzing the ESI (electronically stored information) data is vastly different from collecting a user’s Inbox.

Chad heads up most forensic projects and provides expert testimony and consulting for attorneys. He routinely presents on a multitude of ESI data topics at various professional organizations for attorneys, litigation support professionals, corporate general counsels, forensic examiners, and information security professionals. Chad currently teaches courses on computer forensics and incident response at DePaul University, focusing on internet vulnerabilities, criminal activity, and investigative procedures.
